Is your air conditioner just not quite cutting it? Here are some suggestions on how to help keep your home cool when the temperature rises.
Install Ceiling Fans
By installing ceiling fans, you create air movement that helps cool down a room. This will help you avoid dropping the temperature on the thermostat and the costs associated with it. Also, in the summer months, make sure to have your ceiling fan going counterclockwise.
Close those Blinds
If you have windows that receive direct sunlight, you will benefit from closing those blinds and curtains during those times. Try turning your blinds upwards to help prevent the sun’s rays from sneaking through.
A Programmable Thermostat
A programmable thermostat can really help keep your home cool and save money on energy costs too! If you plan on being out of the house all day, you can program your thermostat to reduce the temperature a few degrees before you come home. This way when you arrive it’s nice and cool without wasting energy all day.
This is definitely one tip I can get behind. When the temperatures go up, step outside and grill your meals. This can cut the heat in your kitchen by not using the oven or stove.
